Woodland’s Make A Difference Day – 10/27/12

Woodland’s “Make a Difference Day” is Saturday, October 27, 2012 from  9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

A city wide clean-up to promote community pride and youth awareness effort is being sponsored by the City of Woodland and the Woodland School District.  The event is co-sponsored by Cowlitz County Solid Waste and Waste Control.  Teams of adults and youngsters will perform identified service projects around the community.

We are looking for projects and volunteers!

Do you know a disabled or elderly citizen that has a household or yard project?  Are you willing to volunteer?

Contact Heidi Morgan at (360) 841-2982 with names and addresses of those who may need assistance or to volunteer your time, tools, and/or vehicle or to become a team leader.

Household “Junk” and Organic Yard Waste
Drop Off Site:  City Shop (38404 Lakeshore Drive)

First come first served basis, limited to 30-tons of waste.  When that goal is met no more will be accepted.  Household “junk” and organic yard waste ONLY.  Note the following restrictions:

  • Tires (limit of four ONLY)
  • NO Appliances
  • NO Commercial Waste
  • NO Building Material
  • NO Regular Garbage
  • NO Medical Waste
  • Organic Yard Waste (maximum 4″-diameter)

Household Hazardous Waste
Drop Off Site:  Safeway (Eastside Parking Lot)

Volume cannot exceed 25-gallons or 200-pounds.  See the “FREE Household Hazardous Waste Turn-In” flyer for additional information.  The following WILL be accepted from households:

  • Paints/Thinners
  • Pesticides
  • Auto Products
  • Pool/Hobby Chemicals
  • Toxic/Flammable Products
  • Cleaning Products
  • Flammable Material
  • Car Batteries

The event will start at8:30 a.m.at the Woodland School District Commons.  Breakfast will be provided by Safeway, Starbucks and T&T Enterprises.  Lunch will be provided by Burgerville.  Gloves provided by True Value and Ace Hardware.
