Because of a lack of active members, the Downtown Woodland Revitalization (DWR) has decided it must discontinue some of it’s ongoing projects beginning next year. The organization will remain active but with fewer meetings.
DWR plans to continue to produce the HOT SUMMER NIGHTS concert series at Hoffmann Plaza for 2012 and 2013. People who have purchased flower baskets from DWR can continue to acquire them from our local grower. The baskets hanging in the downtown will be handled by the city. The city will also assume responsibility for the sale and installation of the memorial bricks and benches.
The committee remains ready to increase activity if volunteers and projects present themselves. In the past 12 years, the major projects that DWR has participated in are the new streetscape, construction of the new bathrooms at the Plaza, Revitalization of Hoffmann Plaza and the installation and purchase of the Mascot art and water features. The Gateway and Design Standard projects for the downtown core are now in the hands of the City of Woodland and are progressing.
DWR is grateful to the many citizens who have supported our efforts and its many projects in the downtown core.
